With the scorching hot weather outside, what better way to cool off than with a sundae bar? I have been wanting to create one for quite a while and it felt like the perfect opportunity to indulge in some ice cream.
My first stop was Walmart where I purchased my goodies. First and foremost, ice cream. Now, with all the brands and flavors out there, which one did I choose? I love Dreyer's ice cream because it's so good and very affordable, so picking out the ice cream was easy. My first flavor choice: Nestle's Dreyer's Slow Churned French Vanilla for the classic, Plain Jane in me. This flavor is perfect for a sundae bar because it's like a clean canvas and you can add just about anything to it. I also picked up one of the Fun Flavors - Drumstick. So yummy and perfect for Ben who loves anything with chocolate.
Next, the toppings. With so many options, I decided to include just about everything. Tons of sprinkles, different nuts, rainbow chocolate chips, syrup and more! If you are wondering about my choice of containers, you are looking at it right. They are silicone cupcake molds. My thought was a sundae bar should be fun, have variety and be easy to execute, so the molds made it simple to sprinkle the toppings on my sundae without wasting extra utensils. Less to wash and clean - BONUS!
So with a few scoops to form a mountain of ice cream, I began assembling my yummy treat.
Caramel syrup...mmm.
Tada! My final sundae. Not beautiful, but tasted great. Ben's up next and I know his creation will probably include every topping imaginable. He's adventurous. And now that I have completed my first sundae bar, I can perfect it for my next event. :)
This shop/project has been compensated as part of a campaign for Nestle. All views/opinions are my own.
Oh my gosh, your sundae bar is so beautiful! I would never have thought of using cupcake molds for toppings, but that's brilliant! It would work so well! And it's so perfect for July 4th coming up. Love it!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much! When I initally pulled out containers for the toppings, I thought cupcake liners and then realized - hey why not use the silicone molds. Last minute ideas are the best!
ReplyDeleteThis looks so yummy Joanna! I think I might be getting some ice cream on my trip to Walmart today. :)
